Lemon Juice 1 tbsp.
Dijon Mustard 1/4 tsp.
Apple Cider Vinegar 1 tsp.
Raw Cashews 1 Cup

Note: Soak cashews at least for 4 hours if you don’t have a high-powered processor.

Method:

  • Initially, drain and rinse the soaked cashews until the water becomes clear.
  • Put water, mustard, vinegar, salt, lemon juice, and cashews in a blender. Blend it until it is creamy and smooth.
  • You can add a little more lemon juice in it if want a bit tangier flavor.
  • It is ready to serve. You can use it for around 5 days if kept refrigerated.

Can You Freeze Sour Cream And Reuse?

Yes, of course, you can freeze it for later use. Anyhow, keep in mind that there will be a considerable change in the texture due to freezing. Therefore, it is better to use the frozen cream in cooked dishes such as crockpot recipes, casseroles as well as soups.

Baking Soda 1 tsp.
Salt 1/2 tsp.
Melted Butter 1 Cup
Sugar 2 Cups
Eggs 2
Vanilla 1 tsp.
Flour (Shifted) 5 Cups
Sour Cream 1 Cup

Note for substitution: For mimicking the sour taste, take one cup of coconut milk and one tablespoon lemon juice.

Method:

  • Initially, dissolve salt and baking soda in a sour cream/substitute.
  • Then, mix sugar and butter. Add vanilla and eggs.
  • Pour it in the mixture of sour cream.
  • Next, add flour slowly by mixing well. Keep it refrigerated for 30 minutes.
  • Cut them in the shape as per your desire and put them in an oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes baking.
  • Take cookies out of the oven, let them cool and then decorate with icing.

2) Sour Cream Pound Cake

Ingredients:

Ingredients Quantity/Amount
Softened Butter 1 Cup
Large eggs 6
All-Purpose Flour 3 Cups
Salt 1/4 tsp.
Vanilla Extract 2 tsp.
Baking Soda 1/4 Cup
Sugar 3 Cups
Sour Cream 1 Cup

Note for Substitution: 1/3 cup of unsalted butter (softened) + 3/4 cup buttermilk.

Method:

  • Firstly, mix sugar and butter well in a bowl until fluffy and light.
  • Then, mix eggs, one by one. Beat the mixture well after adding each egg.
  • Add salt, flour and baking soda then put this blend to creamed mixture with vanilla and sour cream/substitute alternately.
  • Next, take a 10 inches fluted tube pan, grease, and flour it well. Pour that mixture in this pan.
  • Bake it at 325°. Normally, baking pound cake requires about 1.5hr.
  • Perform the toothpick test before taking the cake out. After successful baking, allow cooling for 15 minutes prior to its removal to a wire rack for complete cooling.
  • Decorate with icing and enjoy.

3) Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Ingredients:

Butter 1 Cup
Eggs 2
White Sugar 2 Cups
Baking Powder 1 tsp.
Melted Butter 2 tbsp.
Salt 1/8 tsp.
Vanilla Extract 1/2 tsp.
Ground Cinnamon 1 tsp.
All-purpose Flour 2-1/3 Cup
Packed Brown Sugar 1/2 Cup
Sour Cream 1 Cup

Note for Substitution: 1/3 cup of unsalted butter (softened) + 3/4 cup buttermilk.

Method:

  • Initially, set the oven to 350 degrees F for preheating.
  • Take a 9×13 inch baking pan and grease it.
  • Take a large bowl and add white sugar and butter. Beat it well until fluffy and light.
  • Then, beat all the eggs at once and combine them with vanilla and sour cream/substitute.
  • Combine salt, 2 cups flour and baking powder and mix well. Then, spread half of this mixture in the greased pan.

For the preparation of the filling:

  • Take a medium-size bowl and add brown sugar, cinnamon, two tablespoons melted butter and 1/3 cup flour in it.
  • Next, sprinkle the batter of the cake with half the filling. Subsequently, spread the remaining half of the batter over the filling and atop rest of the filling.
  • Allow baking for 30 to 40 minutes.

4) Sour Cream Banana Bread

Ingredients:

Ingredients Quantity/Amount
Softened Butter 1/2 Cup
Eggs 2
Sugar 1 Cup
Salt 1 tsp.
Mashed Bananas 1/2 Cup
Walnuts 1 Cup
Baking Soda 1 tsp.
Vanilla 1 tsp.
Sour Cream 1/2 Cup

Note for Substitution: 1 cup yogurt + 1 teaspoon baking soda (additionally to what is mentioned in the recipe).

Method:

  • At 350 degrees, preheat the oven.
  • Take one pan of 9 inches, spray oil and flour. Fill the pan around 3/4 with batter.
  • Take a large bowl. Add sugar and butter and mix well until fluffy and light.
  • Then, put the eggs and beat well.
  • Mix together baking soda, salt, and flour separately, and then add this blend to the mixture of butter.
  • Next, put bananas, vanilla, and sour cream. Substitute and mix well.
  • Pour this blend into the greased pans. Keep them in the oven for baking around 55 minutes.
  • Allow cooling for 10 minutes and afterward turn the loaves out onto a holder.

5) Sour Cream Noodle Bake

Ingredients:

Ingredients Quantity/Amount
Ground Chuck 1/4 lbs.
Salt 1/2 tsp.
One can of Tomato Sauce 15 oz.
Fresh Ground Black Pepper For Taste
Sliced Green Onions 1/2 Cup
Small Curd Cottage Cheese 1-1/4 Cup
Grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese 1 Cup
White Egg Noodles 8 oz.
Sour Cream 1/2 Cup

Note for Substitution: 1 cup yogurt + 1 teaspoon baking soda.

Method:

  • Take a large skillet for browning ground chuck. Add tomato sauce after draining fat. Then, add seasonings.
  • Mix and then allow simmering. Meanwhile, make preparation for other ingredients.
  • Next, cook egg noodles, drain them and set them aside.
  • Then, combine cottage cheese and sour cream/substitute in a medium bowl. Season it with black pepper. Then, add it to noodles and mix.
  • Afterward, put green onions and mix again.
  • Add half of the noodles to a baking pot for assembling. Add topping of half of the mixture of meat. Next, atop half of the cheddar cheese. Make repetition of all the layers once again.
  • Allow twenty-minutes baking or until the cheese melts.
  • Serve and enjoy.

6) Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

Ingredients:

Ingredients Quantity/Amount
Chicken Broth 2 Cups
Unsalted Butter 3 tbsp.
Sliced Green Onions 2-3 tbsp.
Chicken Chopped or Shredded
Diced Green Chilies Mild 1 can of 1 to 4 oz.
Flour 3 tbsp.
Monterey Jack Cheese Shredded 3 Cups
Small Flour Tortillas 8-10
Sour Cream 1 Cup

Note for Substitution: 1 cup Greek yogurt + 1 teaspoon baking soda.

Method:

  • Set the oven to 350 degrees for preheating. Take a 9 X 13-inch baking dish and apply a cooking spray. Keep it aside.
  • Then, combine 1 cup of Monterey Jack cheese and chicken in a small bowl. Stuff tortillas in this mixture. Subsequently, put them seam side down in a sprayed pan by rolling each tortilla up.
  • Take a skillet for melting butter. Then, drizzle flour atop melted butter and beat well. Allow cooking for 1 minute. Turn the heat off and put in broth.
  • Turn the heat on and cook until the mixture is bubbly and thickened. Next, allowing cooling the sauce for 3 to 5 minutes. Subsequently, put chilies and sour cream/substitute and mix until smoothening of the sauce.
  • Top enchiladas with sauce and layer the rest of the cheese on the top. Next, allow baking for 20 to 25 minutes or until thoroughly heated enchiladas. Then, allow broiling by turning the broiler on until golden. Layer with green onions and have it.
